Assessing lifestyle, environmental, and demographic factors influencing the growing burden of NCDs in Bangladesh.

Start: Mar 05, 2026

Abstract

This research project aims to assess the prevalence and risk factors associated with non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Bangladesh. The study focuses on identifying key determinants such as lifestyle habits, environmental conditions, and socio-economic factors that contribute to diseases like diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and hypertension. The findings of the research will support policymakers and healthcare planners in developing effective prevention strategies and public health interventions.

Description

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) have emerged as a major public health concern in Bangladesh. With rapid urbanization, changing lifestyles, and increasing life expectancy, the burden of diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, cancer, and chronic respiratory diseases is rising significantly.

This research project aims to conduct a nationwide assessment of the prevalence, distribution, and determinants of NCD risk factors among the adult population of Bangladesh. The study will collect data from multiple regions to analyze behavioral, environmental, and socio-economic influences that contribute to NCD development.

The project will utilize a combination of population surveys, clinical assessments, and statistical modeling to generate reliable evidence for policy development. The outcomes of this research are expected to support national health programs, strengthen preventive healthcare strategies, and contribute to evidence-based policymaking in Bangladesh.
